Beginner Girls:

Kindergarten age – 10 years old

Class Length:  1 Hour, students may choose one or more class per week

 

 No previous gymnastics experience is necessary.  Girls will be taught basic beginning gymnastics skills on Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise. In addition, there is an emphasis on developing overall fitness including strength, flexibility, and endurance. Students will move on to the next class level as soon as they have mastered all of the beginner level gymnastic skills. Leotard is required. Key Skills include: correct hurdle, stretch jump off spring board, walk up pull-over on bars, releve walks & pivot turns on beam, forward & backward rolls, bridges on floor.  *5 year olds must have completed IGN's Mighty-Mini class prior to enrolling in Beginner Girls.

 

 

Intermediate Girls Gymnastics

 

Ages: 6 and older, must have passed the Beginner Girls Gymnastics class or be 11 years old.

 

Class Length:  1 hour, students may choose one or more classes per week

 

Students will continue to develop skills on the four apparatus:  Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise, building on the foundation from the Beginner Girl's class.  Students will also continue to improve their strength, flexibility, and endurance levels.  Key Skills include: Stretch Jump from spring board to 16” mats on vault, Leg Swing Pull Over and Cast Back Hip Circle on bars, 1-foot hops, mountain climber needle kick, & bridge on beam, Vertical Handstand and Handstand to Bridge Kickover on floor.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Accelerated/Advanced Girls Gymnastics

 Ages: 6 and older

 Class Length:  2 hours per week, students may choose one or more classes per week

 

 Students must have completed the Intermediate Girls Gymnastics skill list and show current proficiency in those skills to join this class.  Students will work on skills and routines associated with the USA Gymnastics J.O. Level 1 and 2 program.  Strength and flexibility continue to be incorporated in this class to help students become physically prepared to successfully complete these more advanced gymnastics skills. Key Skills include: Dive Roll to Resi Mat on vault, Pull-Up pullover and Horizontal Cast on bars, Heel Snap ½ Turn and ¾ Handstand on beam, and Front Limber and Back Bend Kickover on Floor.

Students who complete the Accelerated Girls  Gymnastics skill list and show current proficiency in those skills are recommended to take two classes per week.. Students work on the skills and routines associated with the USA Gymnastics J.O. Level 2 and 3 program.  This is an advanced class for students who are at a competitive ability level but choose not to participate in our team program.  This is an open-ended skill level class.  Students will also work on strength, flexibility, and endurance in this class. Key Skills include: A front handspring over a sideways resi mat on vault, Front Hip Circle and Stride Circle on bars, Cartwheel and Full Turn on beam, and Front Walkover, Back Handspring, and Back Extension Roll on floor.
