Dear Loyal Moms and Dads;
This is Paige Roth, owner of Iowa Gym-Nest. I hope this email finds you and your family in good health during these unprecedented times. Everyone in the IGN family remains healthy.
First, a couple paragraphs of history followed by a promise to you, your children and the community:
The last week and a half have been surreal around IGN. As a daughter of two wonderful parents in their 70s and mother to two young adults, my state of mind alternates between feeling as if I am role playing in a drill for worst-case-scenario planning and getting slapped in the face with escalating reminders that this is not a drill. We have a real health threat and many small businesses like ours will not be able to re-open after the health threat subsides.
I started teaching gymnastics at the ripe old age of 12. My mom was a pre-school gymnastics teacher and I was a competitive gymnast and jumped right into teaching with mom. I started teaching at Iowa Gym-Nest when I was a freshman at the University of Iowa in 1990. Upon graduating in 1993, I accepted a full-time position at IGN. I knew that I wanted gymnastics to always be a part of my life. In 2012 I fulfilled a lifelong dream when I took over ownership of IGN. It has been my honor and pleasure to continue IGN’s nearly 50 year legacy. I am lucky to have a career that I am passionate about and that I get to do something I truly love every day.
Today, walking through our ghost-like facility was more difficult than I could ever imagine. The building is dark and cold with the thermostats at maintenance settings. The usual joyful chatter of kids having fun while learning was substituted with a tomb-like silence. I miss my students, my staff, and the families I am accustomed to seeing weekly. ‘Sad' does not begin to capture the emotion. And I must admit that many tears were shed. But those of you who know me, know that I don’t take adversity laying down. I am a fighter and I am determined!
I make this promise to you, your children, the amazing IGN staff and the community—IGN will weather this storm and come back strong. To whatever extent necessary, every dollar I have ever saved will be pledged to our recovery and rebuilding. At the moment, our Company has trimmed every non-essential expense and is paying as much as it can to as many staff as it can while still servicing the rent, utilities, and insurance payments.
To come back strong requires careful budgeting and you can help our cause significantly. As you know, tuition is auto-debited on the 1st of each month and that date is approaching. We have arranged four options:
#1. REMAIN ENROLLED AND PAY TUITION AS USUAL
(No action required)
We have had several families reach out to us and ask to have their regular tuition billed throughout the closure. I thank-you in advance for even considering this. Your generosity will help to keep us afloat during this unforeseen closure and will allow us to keep all of our fulltime staff employed during this time and will allow us to get back up and running as soon as it is safe to do so. This will also allow us to continue to provide the on-line content, live lessons, and zoom check-ins. We are also using this time to get the gyms all freshened up and organized and our staff are taking some great on-line continuing education classes to be ready with new drills for skills when we open back up. Families who choose this option will receive the following thank-you benefits:
Extra Thank You #1: Recreation students will receive THREE make up classes for every two classes missed during the closure. Team students will have extra practices throughout the summer.
Extra Thank You #2: Complete access to our on-line content, including live lessons and zoom check-ins
Extra Thank You #3: TWO FREE Passes per enrolled child per month of paused operations for your choice of:
*Back Handspring Clinic
*Half Day of Camp
Extra Thank You #4: A membership credit of $24/student or $60/family to cover your 2020-2021 IGN membership!
* Thank you sincerely for considering this option. We won’t let you down.
#2. PAY TUITION & EARN 80% FAMILY LOYALTY CREDIT
(Please notify Sandie, if you choose this option; email@example.com)
During our pause of operations, 80% of all tuition dollars your family pays beginning April 1 will be held as a credit to your account in the form of a “Family Loyalty Credit” (FLC). Your total FLC will be divided evenly over 10 months to reduce future tuitions.
EXAMPLE: Assume, our pause of operations continues through April and May with resumption of operations on June 1.
* If your family’s tuition is $100/month your two month total is $200.
* Paying the $200 brings your total FLC to $160 ($20 is applied to April, $20 is applied to May)
* The $160 will be used evenly over the next 10 months once we resume operations, starting with the second full month of classes.
One more thing: if the resumption of operations is anything other than the first of a month, all numbers will be pro-rated to that date.
These credits will remain on your account indefinitely. If your student wishes to take a break, the remaining credit will be available to you upon return to classes, or can be applied to open gym or special event registrations during the time your child is not enrolled in classes.
Extra Thank You #1: One FREE Pass per enrolled child per month of paused operations to your choice of:
*Back Handspring Clinic
* Extra Thank You #2: Complete access to our on-line content, including live lessons and zoom check-ins
#3. TUITION RELIEF OPTION. Pay what you can and retain your class spots. I understand that many of you want to help but might also be having your own financial worries to deal with. Our IGN families are the most important thing to me, so I will do whatever it takes to protect and help our families continue to receive classes for your child. If you choose this option, please contact Sandie at firstname.lastname@example.org
Extra Thank You: Complete access to our on-line content, including live lessons and zoom check-ins
#4. Un-enroll. If you opt to unenroll we understand. Our procedure remains unchanged: simply email email@example.com stating your desire to unenroll.
As of April 1st when tuition is due, we will assume, unless we hear otherwise from you, you are agreeing to Option #1 and ACH and Auto-debits will be run as usual.
I will depart with a heartfelt THANK YOU. Thank you for believing and especially for entrusting your most precious treasure to us. And, more than can be expressed in words, thank you for your continued support. I can’t wait for the lights to be turned back on and families to fill our gyms again! IGN will open as soon as we are allowed to do so.
Wishing you, your loved ones and especially all who have been hurt by this virus a speedy return to normal.
